Important Information About Your Dues
We have tried to keep our dues as low as possible for as long as possible but it has become necessary to raise them from the current $30 per year to $35 per year effective January 1st 2016. This will affect those members who fail to renew for the 2016 calendar year before January 1st 2016. For those of you who have already renewed, thank you and this will not affect you until you renew for 2017 during the second half of 2016. If you have not already renewed we urge you to do so before January 1st. You can renew by mailing your check to us or on line at http://www.legion.org/renew .
The increase is necessary because the Department of California raised their share of the dues payment by $5 two years ago by vote at the Department convention and now National has raised their share by $5 effective in January of 2016 by vote at the National Convention. We voted to absorb the increase by the Department of California but now cannot do so for the increase from National. Here is how your dues payment is allocated:

As you can see, we need the $5 increase to prevent our share of the dues from going “negative”. Almost all of our operating revenue for programs is provided by facility rental so we have intentionally kept the dues as low as possible, probably the lowest of any Post in California. Our increase will simply offset the change in the National portion of your dues.
For those of you which may be considering Paid Up For Live (PUFL) membership, you may want to do so before the dues increase since the PUFL fee is based on your age and the current Post dues. For more information about PUFL membership see http://www.legion.org/join/pufl

TALARC, The American Legion Amateur Radio Club, and CALARS, The California Amateur Radio Service have expanded and changed their schedules for nets. Please see the Amateur Radio page for information about the net schedules and and for information about becoming an Amateur Radio operator. All Hams, especially Legion members, are invited to participate in any of the nets.
We have created an email list service which will allow you to receive notices about posting of the Messenger newsletter and occasional announcements about upcoming events by email. For information and to subscribe to the list goto the Email List Options menu selection.
The Post 318 Auxiliary is sponsoring a breakfast fundraiser on the first Sunday of every month from 8:30am to 11:00am. This monthly breakfast at Post 318 features pancakes, eggs, bacon or sausage, coffee, and juice. The requested donation is just $6.00 per person, $5.00 for students and active duty military. Everyone is invited. Bring your family and friends.
The Post General Meeting is held at 7:00 PM on the 4th Wednesday of each month except June and December. All members are welcome to the pre-meeting meal at 6:00 PM. Please see the Calendar page for all scheduled events.
